Work has been completed on the expansion of the Agape mission facility which added 4 additional bedrooms, 2 living room areas and 4 new bathrooms. This dorm serves as a facility to host visiting missionary teams and medical students. The addition is designed as dual purpose, as it can be used as either 2 separate apartments or as additional dorm rooms. The facility can now accommodate up to 40 people.
HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
Saturday, January 16, 2010
As most of you know, an earthquake occurred on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, just south of Port au Prince, Haiti. Through mission partners in Haiti, and here in the Houston area, we have been getting daily updates on the conditions and the progress of the recovery effort. The conditions are worse than we thought and the amount of help needed is tremendous. Our missionaries are already seeing shortages of water, food and fuel resulting from a lack of supplies and supply routes.
Agape in Action, is partnering with New Beginning Resources, Inc. and their mission partners Haiti Bible Mission (www.haitibiblemission.org) and GVCM (www.gvcm.org) to collect funds and supplies to send relief aid to Haiti. Through a partnership with Mission of Hope (www.missionofhopehaiti.org) and Convoy of Hope (www.convoyofhope.org) we are sending down a container to Haiti in the coming days with supplies and resources for our missionaries on the ground. We are obtaining medical supplies (especially orthopedic care for broken bones, etc.) and water purification systems along with other relief items for the container. We will also be sending medical professionals to Haiti as soon as possible to serve. Please be in prayer with us as we seek the Lord’s provision and blessing in our efforts to help in this time of great need.
Dr. Sherwood and Areli Pope are planning to go to Haiti at the beginning of March 2010 to do medical mission work and the most recent events in Haiti have only increased the need for their help. Please pray with us for wisdom in pursuing an Agape in Action medical presence in Haiti in the near future.
Above all, we desire to see the gospel proclaimed and lives to be changed for the Glory of God during these desperate times in Haiti. Please contact us if you have assistance to offer in acquiring supplies or if you would like to be involved with medical relief.
